I am thrilled to welcome you to the relaunch of the Be Whole, Mom Swag store! This little venture of mine has been about a year in the making, and I’m still a ball of nerves.
I LOVE being a mom, but oh my goodness sometimes…
This store is not really for the moms that need to display their super sweet side as mommy. I mean, there might be a shirt about that, maybe, but I doubt it.
This is also not a store that seeks to pump up female pride. Let’s be real ladies, we can be strong and humble.
I began to create these designs out of a “fed-upness” with it all. If that’s a word, it fits.
The first design I made was “Meanest Mom.” This shirt and the entire phrase for me was a lifeline during a very, VERY difficult season with my “passionate child” (i.e. strong-willed, boundary-less, and unaccepting of the word no).
I’m a gentle person by nature (or so I thought), so when God handed me this little ball of Fire and told me to raise her, I seriously did not know what I was in for!
So much of motherhood has felt just like this. I thought if I just simply was nice to them that they’d listen. NOPE.
And, seriously, I cared that they liked me. I mean, isn’t that basically what we all learn for years? To seek to be liked? This god of people-pleasing was not serving me well….
Eventually I hit a point where something had to give. Either I could keep trying to please my child who was unpleasable, OR I could embrace my role as parent and hold the boundary line with a firm, but loving “no,” whether or not she liked it.
This shirt was my reminder that I could survive being disliked by my 9 year old. And, guess what? IT WORKED!
Not only did I need the reminder, but she began to learn so much more about self-control and respect through NOT getting her way than she ever did getting her way and hearing lectures about kindness.
THIS shirt has a special place in my heart.
We all need a little reminder sometimes…
I think that each of us moms, and dads, trying to simply raise little people to have character and moral integrity in this world need to be reminded that we will get through this. And, I think that we do it best when we have the chance to laugh at the ridiculousness of some things we need to go through.
Parenting is hard sometimes. Life can seriously suck, too. BUT, mixed in with all the annoying and sucky, and ugly, and painful is a whole lot of amazing beauty and glorious pleasure that is here by the grace of God.
If I learn nothing in this life but that, I will be ok.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” ~ James 1: 17
Laugh, Cry, Hug, Sing…LIVE
It is my greatest desire that the swag store is a glimmer of joy and fun in the midst of the bleh of life. I desire nothing more than to have my fellow tired and weary moms to be renewed and revived by a little laughter and humor.
You are not alone in the muck of motherhood, and truly, you CAN survive it (even though it does not always seem to be true).
Without further adieu, I give you the SWAG Store. You’ve gotta tell me what you think!
